Darling | Charlottesville VA Newborn Photographer
Madeline’s mom contacted me about doing her newborn photography and I have to say I am SO glad she did. Her mom had some specific requests for her newborn session and was having trouble finding a photographer that would work with her because her and her husband did not want Madeline to be naked in any of her images. This is absolutely their right as a parent and something that I just thought any photographer would roll with. Apparently, that’s not the case as they were turned away because of that. The second obstacle that they were facing was that Madeline was over 14 days old. Now, I feel like there is some myth that is being perpetuated throughout the newborn photography world that you cannot take on babies that have passed this two week mark. It has been my experience that this is just completely untrue. Will you have to make some changes and concessions for baby? Absolutely. But it’s easily done. I just feel awful that families are being told they cannot have images taken of their newborn because they might be 3, 4, or even 6 weeks old. It’s silliness in MY opinion. Not everyone will agree with me, but I definitely wanted to put it out there in case you or someone you know every finds themselves in this situation. I mean when I had my oldest I didn’t know that I needed to have them done that early so Noah was three weeks old, close to four, when we did his. Other times there are cultural or medical reasons why a baby can’t have their pictures taken in that 14 day window. So yeah. Now that I’ve got that off my chest, on to her lovely images!
