Minion Cupcakes | Charlottesville Photographer
It feels like I haven’t posted a blog in ages. I have been so super busy with things that blogging just hasn’t happened. I mean, this is two personal posts in a row! I have lots of squishy little newborn images and gorgeous maternity images to share so I promise we’ll get back to the regular stuff soon. It’s birthday week here at the Yang household though which means craziness is ensuing.
First up for Noah’s birthday week is cupcakes for his class. These took me way longer than I had anticipated but it could have been a lot faster had I just bought all the things I needed to make the cupcakes rather than making it myself. Seriously, what was I thinking whipping up frosting at 9:30 last night? So could have just bought a can. The kids wouldn’t have known the difference. Also, I think it’s time to look for some new silicone cupcake forms. The ones I have I got at the dollar spot in Target and, while I really like them, they make gigantic cupcakes. Like half the size of Noah’s head. Huge. So, my minions weren’t the cute little round heads I was envisioning. And thus the eyes were then out of proportion but there was nothing I could do about it. I finished these babies up at 11:30 last night and popped them in the fridge.
Noah of course wanted to see them as soon as he came downstairs this morning. I pulled them out and he was less than thrilled with the smiles I had made them. I originally just cut into the fondant for their smiles. I guess they were hard to see because Noah insisted that I needed to put real smiles on them. So I got out a little more fondant and did the white smiles. It does look a lot better, but man is he really turning into me with his very specific ideas and opinions on how something should look and be done. Good Lord!
I know he was over the moon to take these into school today and share them with his friends. I’m also fairly certain that the kids will all recognize them as minions so my work there is done. Now it’s back to making minion goggles and planning the big cake for his party on Saturday!
What adorable birthday cupcakes, I am impressed! Great photos of them as well.
Hoe cute!!! great job.
Love these! So cute! Can you make me some for my son’s birthday? LOL.
They are so easy to do Rhonda! If you have some circle cutters that’s all you need. Color some yellow fondant and a touch of black and grey then just cute and assemble. You can totally do it!
Those are so cute!
How fun! What to make some for my kids?!?
They are so simple to make Jeanine! You can totally do them!
