The Half Way Point | Charlottesville VA Photographer

Well, I’m half way through the MOLO Challenge with Baby Boot Camp Charlottesville. We did updated measurements and weights yesterday after class and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed in my progress so far. However, the fact that I’m only a LITTLE disappointed is huge. Two weeks ago I was the crazy person weighing herself three times a day and having a meltdown. I feel like I’m getting back on track. I’ve still only last a total of 5 lbs but I’ve lost a couple of inches and I think I can see a slight difference between the first week and this week’s pictures. So that’s something.

In my last update I talked about doing a food log. That did not go well. I would do fine writing down breakfast and lunch but then I wasn’t measuring things as I made dinner so it was really impossible for me to know exactly how many calories were in what I was making. I just assumed that the quantity I was eating was not large so surely I wasn’t exceeding my calorie goal. Boy was I wrong. I started actually tracking my calories on Monday of this week. What I found was that I was actually eating anywhere from 200-500 excess calories each day. So all my running and increased Baby Boot Camp classes were just basically burning off that excess. HUGE eye opener.

I’m definitely going to continue tracking my food this week and at least next week. It has been helpful to see exactly how many calories what goes in my mouth are costing me. And since I know that not all calories are created equal, I can make some better choices. I know I need to be intentional about what I’m putting in my mouth and I am starting to see that change from just eating what I want to actually thinking about what will fuel my body the best. That’s not really something I’ve ever given much thought to. Knowing what’s good for your body and actually choosing those foods are two very different things, but here’s hoping I’m making progress!
