VIA Gala | Charlottesville VA Charity Event Photographer

On the night of the Virginia Institute Of Autism’s big black tie gala, I knew I had to dress to fit in. So I grabbed the one dress that I had since having baby number two that would work. There’s a gold Banana Republic dress hanging in my closet with my name on it but the body just hasn’t gotten back to that shape yet. But soon gold dress, soon. After the air and make-up were done, I think I cleaned up fairly nicely and it definitely made me miss the days when I had more opportunities to do that.

About half way through the night, as the silent auction was winding down, I noticed this large group of people coming down to the ballroom in these crazy, crazy white and teal sequined outfits. Before I knew it, I was standing in a sea of them as I photographed the guests. That’s when it hit me. We’re wearing the exact same color! Minus all the sequins, I totally looked like I was a part of the band. I even had a guest ask me if 1) I knew the band, 2) I planned my dress to match them, or 3) if I was going to be getting on stage to sing with them. Um, no. Just a completely crazy coincidence!

But the band was awesome. They interacted with the crowd wonderfully and I had such a great time. I should have known that, if they picked the exact same shade of teal to wear as me, they had no choice but to be fabulous. Clearly.
